We are stewards.

Everything we have (our time, talents, and treasure) begins with God and ultimately belongs to him. We are not owners, but stewards: people entrusted with God’s gifts for a season and invited to use them for his glory and the good of others. As Scripture reminds us, “What do you have that you did not receive?” (1 Corinthians 4:7)

That changes giving from an obligation into an invitation. God gave first, offering us his very best in Jesus, and we respond with gratitude, trust, and joy. When we bring our first and best, we help people encounter the hope of Jesus, care for our neighbors, and take part in work that lasts beyond us. Generosity doesn’t simply reveal what we value, it helps shape our hearts around what matters to God. (Matthew 6:19–21)

A message on stewardship

"Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." Jesus challenges us to invest in eternal treasures, not earthly ones. Generosity isn't about God taking from us, but freeing us. Give your first and best to God, just as He gave His best (Jesus) for us.

Why We Give

Everything we have is a gift from God. He loved us first and gave us his very best in Jesus. Generosity is our response to that grace.

When we give, we aren’t trying to earn God’s love or prove our faithfulness. We’re learning to trust him, becoming more like Jesus, and joining what God is doing through Fountain City Church and beyond.

God is the beginning and source of everything (Genesis 1:1–31). Before we ever moved toward him, he moved toward us by giving us Jesus (Romans 5:8). Because Jesus is first in all things, we choose to honor God with our first and our best, not simply whatever is left over. (Colossians 1:15–20; Genesis 4:2–5; Matthew 6:25–34)

Money is a powerful tool, but it makes a terrible god. The way we handle it often reveals what we value, what we fear, and where we place our trust. Jesus invites us to live with God, not money, at the center of our lives. (Matthew 6:1–34)

Everything we own is temporary, but what God is doing lasts forever. Generosity helps loosen our grip on temporary things and directs our hearts toward Jesus, his kingdom, and the good of others. (1 Timothy 6:6–19; Matthew 6:19–21; Luke 12:13–21)

Everything we have belongs to God. Our time, abilities, opportunities, and resources have been entrusted to us for a season. Giving is one way we faithfully care for what already belongs to Him. Instead of asking, “How much do I have to give?” stewardship invites us to ask, “How does God want me to use what he has placed in my hands?” (Mark 10:17–31)

God’s generosity doesn’t end with us. He provides for us so his grace can flow through us to meet needs, share hope, and help others encounter Jesus. As we give, lives are changed and thanksgiving rises to God. (2 Corinthians 9:11) Even our ability to be generous is a gift of God’s grace. (2 Corinthians 9:1)

Jesus gave himself for us: freely, fully, and without reservation. Because our lives belong to him, the gospel shapes every part of how we live, including how we use what God has entrusted to us. We give because Jesus first gave himself for us. (2 Corinthians 9:1–15)

Generosity is an invitation, not an obligation. We don’t give because God needs something from us or because giving earns his approval. We give freely and joyfully because we have already received so much in Jesus. We don’t have to give; we get to take part in what God is doing. (2 Corinthians 8:1–9:15; Luke 18:9–14)

There are a few different ways to give at Fountain City Church!

  • ENVELOPES: If you like to give through cash or checks, just use of our giving envelopes that you can pick up and return at the InfoCenter in the Main Hallway.

  • MOBILE APP: One of the easiest ways to set up recurring giving is on the Fountain City Church Mobile App. Just click here, download the app, tap “GIVE” and you’ll be all set!

  • ONLINE: Our most popular way of giving is by simply doing it online. Just click here and you will be able to give one time, set up recurring giving, manage your giving and more!

The short answer is life-change. Your giving not only makes a difference in countless lives in our church, community, and around the world… but it also makes a difference in your life as well. God knows what brings His people joy better than any marketing agency or lie from the enemy, so when He invites us to be generous with our giving, we can trust that joy and peace are soon to follow. Here are a few promises we have from His word:

Giving acknowledges God as the giver of everything we have (James 1:17).

Giving reflects our trust that God will provide for us (Matthew 6:19-24).

Giving allows us to be active participants in God's work on earth (2 Corinthians 9:6-7).

Even though complete security is only found in the hands of our Heavenly Father, we have sought out the most secure giving platforms available to non-profits for your giving. This way you can trust that your giving (and information) isn’t landing in the wrong hands.

We have several ways to give, and you are welcome to mix & match them! Just make sure you provide the same information each time (name, email, phone number) so we can make sure your giving statement reflects your offering throughout the year. We email giving statements once a year in January, but you can request a current giving statement at any time by contacting our main office at (865) 689-3385.
