what is starting point?
IS IT FOR ME?
Starting Point is for those who are new to faith, curious about God, or coming back to church after some time away. Even if you've been going to church your whole life, or aren't sure who this "Jesus" guy is, you'll be at home at Starting Point.
what's it like?
To put it simply, Starting Point is an 8-week small group. Here's a few frequently asked questions...
what about my kids?
Depending on where and when your group is, you may or may not have childcare built in to the Starting Point group. If that's a deal-breaker for you, make sure to let us know ahead of time and we can make it happen!
Where will we meet?
Many of our groups meet on campus at 2801 Holbrook Drive. This is out of convenience for everyone and the ability to show the videos on a television. But some groups choose to meet in homes, public places, and everything in between! If you'd like to start a Starting Point somewhere specific, let us know!
How long is it?
Starting Point lasts about 60-90 minutes, and is filled with casual conversation and deep discussion. But it doesn't end there! Your weekly meetings are scheduled, but Starting Point is a journey. So feel free to grab coffee with other people in your group and keep talking about faith!
Have more questions?
That's okay! We love Starting Point, so we love talking about it. If you have specific questions that are holding you back, go ahead and give us a shout and we'll touch base soon.
What do we do?
Starting Point has three key elements:
- The Videos: each week you'll watch a short message introducing a new idea like "faith", "sin", and even "Jesus".
- The Discussion: right after watching the video together, you'll get to talk through what you learned or had questions about.
- The Journal: in between meetings you'll have your own personal Starting Point Journal were you will walk through the ideas of the week.
And that's just the start! Your group leader will add other elements to your 8-week journey, but these three elements are the foundation of Starting Point.
